Module One – Program Management Context

An overview of the principles, skills and knowledge necessary to demonstrate competent performance for Project Management at AQF Level 6. It includes governance, benefits management, financial management and project selection.

Module Two – Project Management Context

Provides an overview of the essential requirements for project managers to manage projects and integrate with the program and portfolios.

Module Three – Scope Management

Provides an outline of the principles of scope planning and control at project and program levels.

Module Four – Time and Cost Management

Focuses on the process used in developing a plan for the management of time and resources for projects and across operations, programs and portfolios.

Module Five – Principles and Practices of Quality Management

Looks into the skills and knowledge required to establish and maintain a quality system that meets the quality requirements of clients, the organisation and suppliers. This involves ensuring policy, processes and procedures are in place which will enable project managers to adopt a consistent approach to the management of quality. It also involves processes to enable the quality requirements of clients to be identified and included in the quality plan. The procedure for establishing a sound approach to quality requirements as an inclusion in procurement and contract processes is addressed.

Module Six – Managing Risk

Develops a sound understanding of the risk management process (as outlined in the Australian Standard AS/ NZS ISO 31000) and the skills needed to be able to put in place the strategic and operational level risk management plans for the program of projects. This incorporates the requirement for an enterprise approach to risk management, opportunity management and business continuity management.

Module Seven – Communications Management

Provides an overview of the skills, knowledge and procedures required for effective management of stakeholders to provide effective communications across projects, programs and the organisation.

Module Eight – People and Leadership

Provides exposure to contemporary Human Resource Management and Human Resource Development practices so that the most effective use may be made of staff. It includes the effective selection of staff, development of staff competencies, motivation of staff and the maintenance and retention of staff. The importance of HRM within each of the other functions of project management is addressed. Emotional intelligence and the concept of strategic human resources management are also examined.

Module Nine – Procurement Management

Looks into the principles required for the efficient administration and management, through contracts, of the supply of goods and services to projects and programs. The application of contemporary forms of delivery such as Early Contractor Involvement, Managing Contractor and Alliance are also examined.

Module Ten – Finalisation and Integration Management

Provides a working knowledge of project management methods, techniques and tools and an understanding of the importance of integrating projects within the organisational environment. The practices in knowledge management, ethics and sustainability are also explored.
