2008 Trainee of the Year
Martina Dorante was judged UNE Partnerships 2008 Trainee of the Year. She
successfully completed her Certificate IV in Business Administration and
showed an outstanding commitment to her studies and adaptability with her
workplace. Martina is a HR Officer at the Australian Quarantine and
Inspection Service based in Brisbane

How to establish a traineeship
- Contact an Australian Apprenticeship Centre (AAC), advising them UNE Partnerships is your preferred training provider. They will provide information on traineeships including availability and eligibility for relevant State and Commonwealth incentive payments. Call 13 38 73 or www.australiaapprenticeships.gov.au
- Paperwork will be provided by the AAC to UNE Partnerships, who will contact the employer, to finalise training requirements and appoint an assessor.
- The assessor will contact the employer and trainee to complete the Training Plan, confirming the qualification and training delivery option.

Types of trainees
Existing Worker
These traineeships are generally available to those without prior qualifications who have been employed full-time for more than 3 months, or part-time for more than one year.
Duration 2 years for full-time employees or 4 years for part-time employees
New Entrant
A new entrant traineeship is generally available to those without prior qualifications who are- newly employed (full or part-time)
- employed full-time for less than three months, or
- employed part-time (working 15 hours or more per week) but employed for
- less than one year

2007 TRAINEE OF THE YEAR
UNE Partnerships also offers a "Trainee of the Year" award in recognition of the contribution trainees make to their workplace.
2007 winner was Trish Squelch from Withcott Seedlings in Toowoomba.
Trish was chosen as the 2007 Trainee of the Year due to her outstanding commitment to her studies and the improvements she has made within the workplace. “The course has provided me with the confidence to deal with senior management and has taught me how to deal more effectively with people in managing and understanding the variety of personalities within the workplace” said Trish. “Her positive attitude, determination to learn new skills, embrace change and encourage others around her to learn new skills is truly inspiring” concluded Wendy Erhart, owner of Withcott Seedlings.
